According to the India Skills Report 2016, it is estimated that only 2.3% of the workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to 68% in the UK, 75% in Germany, 52% in USA, 80% in Japan and 96% in South Korea. Large sections of the educated workforce have little or no job skills, making them largely unemployable. There is a great need for skilling the present young population. Dr. M.A. Maluk Mohamed, Chairman and Director & Mrs. Fathima Bathool Maluk, Secretary and CEO launched the MASTeR Skill Development Institute in July 2016. The purpose of the institute is to successfully bridge the gap between the industry and academia by skilling.
MoUs have been signed with leading organizations, like PALS (PAN IIT Leadership Series), CEEYES Metal Reclamations, GB, eQuadriga, Dalmia Cements Bharat Ltd., R.K. Dewan & Co. with the focus of making the students industry ready through plugin courses, internships, part time jobs, special expert lectures and industrial visits and training programs organised in association with Siemens, Indian Welding Society, GK Industries Pvt. Ltd and NIE Labview.
The initiative of the new institute had yielded in MAMCET being recognized as one of the training partner of National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology to offer five skill development courses in Electronics System Design Manufacturing Scheme of the Government of India. In addition AICTE has approved MAMCET for conducting four mechanical infrastructure related skill development courses under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India's, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Scheme.
The Scheme aims at enhancing the skilling capacities in ESDM sector through public and private sector for students/unemployed youth belonging to other disciplines by:
Utilizing the existing human resource who are undergoing studies in schools (IX standard onwards)/ITIs/Polytechnics/UG Colleges (non-engineering) and the school drop outs/unemployed youth by providing them with additional skills that are recognized by industry for employment in ESDM sector.
The scheme is proposed to target the following beneficiaries:
Students studying at
IX/X standards onwards
Under Graduate (Non-Engineering)
Unemployed youth (indicative list)
School dropouts from 8th Pass onwards
ITI Certificate Holders
Registrants in Employment Exchanges
Unemployed resources in the Non-formal Sector
The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood
school/college dropouts or unemployed.
Apart from providing training according to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), we shall also impart training in Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial and Digital Literacy. Duration of the training varies per job role, ranging between 150 and 300 hours. Upon successful completion of their assessment, candidates shall be provided placement assistance by us. Trainings imparted under the Short Term Training component of the Scheme shall be NSQF Level 5 and below.
